Outdoor Christmas decoration ideas you shouldn’t miss

Outdoor Christmas decorations are a great way to show your holiday spirit. Whether you’re decorating your front porch or back yard, there are tons of ways to make your home festive this season.

The most important thing is to have fun with it. Take a look at these outdoor Christmas decoration ideas and find the one that’s right for you:

Use white lights around your house

You can hang them on the eaves, around windows and doors, along the driveway or anywhere else you want to shine some light on. If you want to get fancy, try stringing them in a pattern that matches other decorations in your yard like pinecones or branches from an evergreen tree.

Make snowflakes

You don’t have to buy expensive snowflake ornaments when you can make them yourself. Using paper and scissors, create your own custom shapes, then hang them on the tree or elsewhere in your yard.

Add some greenery

Pinecones, holly springs and other natural materials can be used as accents for wreaths, mantels and doorways. You can also decorate trees with lights and bows made from fresh greenery for an extra-festive touch.

Create a mantel display

Create a mantel display with evergreen branches and pine cones in baskets lined up on top of a shelf or mantle piece inside the house. Then place candles at the base of each basket so they flicker when they burn down low enough (a great trick). Or fill small glass jars with sand.

Select a centerpiece

Choose a large tree or shrub that will be visible from all angles of your yard. Pick out a smaller tree or shrub as well, so it will be visible from inside your home as well. Plant them both in pots and place them together on a patio table or near the front door. You could also put them together in the middle of your driveway so they’re visible from all sides.

Decorate shrubs with bows and berries

Shrubs are another popular outdoor Christmas decoration for homes because they are easy to find and easy to decorate too. Simply tie bows around the shrubs’ stems to create a beautiful look. You can also dress up the shrubs with berries by wrapping them with colorful ribbons before attaching them to your shrubbery’s stems using wire hangers or twine (use floral wire if necessary). To make it look more natural, choose berries that match the colors of your shrubs’ leaves/flowers.

Get Scented candles

There’s nothing quite like sitting outside on a cold evening with a warm scented candle burning in front of you! This can be especially nice if you live somewhere where the weather isn’t always great at this time of year (or if there’s just too much snow).

Create an oasis

Create an oasis in your front yard by placing potted plants around the perimeter of the driveway or sidewalk leading up to your front door. You can use large pots filled with colorful flowers like pansies or snapdragons along with small pots containing herbs like rosemary, mint, parsley and thyme. This will also help keep guests warm as they wait for someone to answer the door.
